Beginning from A.A. 2024/25, an Agreement on a Dual Master Degree is established between Tor Vergata University of Rome, Department of Fisica (TV) and Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau, Germany, wherein TV awards the Master of Science (MSc) degree in Science and Technology of Materials, and TUASW, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences awards the Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in PHOTONICS in the frame of a joint master course.
During the Master course, the students shall study at the host institution in the second semester of the first academic year. German student will follow the courses at Tor Vergata that will be taught in English. Analogously Italian students will follow the courses at Wildau that will be taught in English. At the end of the semester the students will sit their examinations at the host institution. Credits obtained at the host institution are recognized by the home institution according to a correspondence table up to a total amount of 30 credits.
At the end of the exchange semester, the students are asked to produce a general report on the period spent in the host institution concerning both the positive and negative aspects of the didactic offer and the context in which the experience has been acquired.
Provided a student (either Italian or German) has obtained all the 30 credits during the exchange semester at the host institution and has completed all courses at home, he is entitled to get the Dual Degree. On the other hand, if he fails to get all the 30 credits in the exchange semester he will lose such an opportunity although the obtained credits will be validated.
In the second semester of the second year, the students may prepare their Master Thesis, which will be written in English, either at their own university or at the host university. Supervision will be given by experts from one of the involved universities but a second tutor must be nominated in the other institution too. The two tutors will carry out consultations with the master students during the preparation period. The work on the Master Thesis can be performed in Wildau, Rome or in any accredited scientific and industrial institutions under the supervision of both tutors.
